Your immune system is like the body's command center for protection and repair. It is not located in one organ. It is an intelligent network that includes your gut, lymphatic system, bone marrow, thymus, spleen, and even your skin and microbiome.


I often describe it as a control, defense, and communication mechanism all rolled into one. It keeps tabs on every system of the body and communicates constantly with your gut microbiome, your brain, and your hormones to maintain homeostasis.

In more than 25 years of clinical practice, I have found that nearly every chronic condition ties back to a disrupted or weakened immune system. Digestive problems, like bloating or irregularity, can also be early warnings, since most of your immune cells live in your gut.

This can show up as seasonal allergies, eczema, asthma, or autoimmune conditions such as Hashimoto's, lupus, or rheumatoid arthritis. You might also experience flare-ups of inflammation, rashes, or joint pain that seem to appear without reason.
